UK MaB Urban Forum Visits CCG

Urban Forum

The UK Man and the Biosphere (MaB) Urban Forum members visited the Connswater Community Greenway recently. The forum specialises in the environment and nature conservation in urban areas.

The visit to the Connswater Community Greenway formed part of the forum’s quarterly meeting, which involves members visiting various cities and urban projects throughout the UK. It also provided an opportunity for the CCG staff to meet with specialists in urban biodiversity and urban issues to discuss ideas.

The visitors were firstly given an overview of the Connswater Community Greenway project at the office at 274 Newtownards Road. The visitors were then taken on a short walk along the Greenway route were various issues were discussed.

The CCG project benefited greatly from this visit. Ideas were shared and good UK wide contacts were provided.  Wendy Langham, Programme Manager found the visit extremely useful as the various officers provided “recommendations from their years of experience on the ongoing management of an urban regeneration scheme such as the Connswater Community Greenway”.
