Love Your Greenway

With love in the air on Valentine's Day we wanted to celebrate all the things we love about the Connswater Community Greenway with the second year of our #LoveYourGreenway campaign- a series of events encouraging everyone to look after the Greenway and promote good use.

We held a  Community Clean Up with Starbucks at Connswater and Belfast City Council and were overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up. People of all ages gave a few hours on a cold (but sunny!) Tuesday morning to help us litter pick, clean street furniture and the Pirate Ship at Flora Street Play Park. Starbucks kindly kept us warm with hot chocolate and muffins which was well received on a cold February morning!

Belfast City Council and the Greenway Team also met with Grosvenor Grammar School, who helped plant some trees and whips at Orangefield Park. The Environmental Group from Grosvenor and Mrs Fox came out on their lunch time and were so enthusiastic about the environment and the Greenway. It's fantastic to see local schools using the Greenway for educational and environmental purposes.

We held an information for Volunteers at Orangefield Pavilion. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet people from the community who are keen to help us #LoveYourGreenway by dedicating time and skills at our events and activities. If you were unable to come along to the information evening please email for more information.

As well as this we encouraged people to let us know what they loved about the Greenway, whether it's a favourite walk, a particular bird or animal that they see when they're out and about, or even someone they enjoy walking the Greenway with. Check out just some of the images we received summing up #LoveYourGreenway.
